How to Make LockDown More Interesting?

As COVID-19 social distancing and lockdown continue, some of us may be going stir crazy not able to go and do the things we’re used to. It’s the time to relax, but when you’ve been cooped up for weeks, and still can’t hit the malls or movie theaters, how can you spend your time?

There are lot of options out there but we have prepared a list of 10 things to do when you’re on social distancing so you don’t get annoyed with boredom.

  1. Arrange your Wardrobe: Tidy up your messed wardrobe. Pick three items of clothing and accessories you no longer use, and set them aside to give. Fix up the clothes you’ve shoved to the back of the wardrobe, the ones with holes and loose buttons. Iron all pending clothes and arrange your accessories making your wardrobe all neat and tide up.
  2. Play Online Games: Google Play and App Stores gives you ample of online games that you can recommend yourself & your friends to download and challenge them. What better and fun way to show off your smartness?
  3. Binge Watch: There’s a bunch of shows that are perfect for binge-watching while you’re still home. Watch some films that you & your family wouldn’t normally pick, ones that you all have been avoiding because they are too niche or simply not your thing. Try to recreate the cinema atmosphere at your home. This lockdown time is perfect escape to binge watch all the movies with your family.
  4. Manage Phone Files: This is your chance to drive out the “Full Memory” warning for at least 3 months. Transfer photos/videos or any other document from your file to an external hard drive.
  5. Connect Virtually: We often complain that we cannot manage to contact our loved ones, friends and relatives because we are so much engrossed in our work, meetings and deadlines. This is the perfect time for calling all your extended family and friends and keeping in touch.
  6. Read Books: Have a look at your personal library and pull out a book that you’ve never managed to get round to. That way, the next time you book shop you can buy a couple of books without feeling guilty.
  7. Clean Your Home: Important! And more than treating it as a preventive measure, treat it as a science. Clean every washable surface and décor items in your home, especially the one you usually ignore or are too lazy to do. Dust off all the furniture, mirrors, shelves, windows and doors and sanitize them. Make your home eco-sustainable. You will feel better afterwards.
  8. Stay Fit & Active: Don’t underestimate the power of “feel good” hormones. Lockdown period are for relaxing for sure but, most importantly, you need to feel healthy. Download a meditation app or watch tutorials and practice a 20 mins home workout/Zumba.
  9. Pick up a new skill: Canvas Painting, Charcoal sketch, Cooking, New language or a music instrument, etc. In this time, pick up one new skill of your interest. Download and learn through YouTube tutorials or apps that will teach you how to proceed with your choice right from the beginner’s stage. All you have to do is sign up and find a choice.
  10. All about You: In amidst of taking care of home and family, spare some time out for yourself. Just think about your life and experiences. Redefine your goals and devise strategies to achieve them. Keep a “Gratitude” Journal and fill it up every night before sleep. Give yourself a manicure and pedicure. Moisturize, experiment with face masks, nail polishes and be passed off as “self-care”.

Please try to stay calm, positive and helpful at this moment. Make the best of your time at home. But what is important here is to know that these things should be practiced even after the pandemic ends. It will surely help you balance your everyday life more effectively, without any stress.
